St. John’s University Women’s Basketball Signs Idan Shlush

St. John’s Women’s Basketball head coach Joe Tartamella announced the signing of Gedera, Israel, native Idan Shlush to the Red Storm roster for the 2021-22 campaign.

Shlush brings a high level of international experience to the St. John’s roster, as she plays for one of the top female basketball academies in Israel, the Wingate Basketball Academy. Shlush is also part of the Israel U20 National Team.

In 2017, Shlush played a key role for Israel in the U16 European Championship, averaging 7.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. Shlush had two double-figure scoring performances, finishing with 13 points against Iceland before tallying 14 points against Slovenia. As a result of her success that year, Shlush was selected to the First Team All-FIBA International Camp.

Shlush also contributed in the 2016 U16 European Championship, pulling down nearly 3.0 rebounds per contest. In addition, the Gedera native recorded 5.1 points, while dishing out 1.1 assists per game. Shlush best scoring output that year came against the Netherlands, as she drained a team-high 12 points, netting four of her six attempts from beyond the arc.
