The New York Mets are currently in First Place in the National League East and have been on a rollercoaster ride during the month of April.
New York were able to see some huge victories in Colorado against the Rockies earlier this month, earning two victories. The team saw a tough three game stretch against the Chicago Cubs, before returning to Citi Field to win two of three against the Washington Nationals.
The Series against the Nationals started off stellar, as the team earned a 6-0 victory on Friday night. New York was led by Jacob deGrom, both on the hill and offensively. DeGrom was able to strike out 15 batters in his second victory of the 2021 MLB season, in addition the starter was also able to contribute with the bat recording a double in the Bottom of the Fifth Inning.
New York also saw offensive contributions on Friday night from Brandon Nimmo and Dominic Smith. The Mets fell to the Nationals in the Second game by a score of 7-1, before earning a 4-0 victory on Sunday.
Leading the way on Sunday offensively was J.D. Davis, James McCann, and Pete Alonso.
1495 Sports is proud to bring the following Post Game Press Conference, from after the team’s 7-0 victory over the Nationals on Sunday. Video features thoughts from Albert Almora, J.D, Davis, and Pete Alonso:
The Mets will be at Citi Field on Tuesday, to play host to the Boston Red Sox for two games starting on Tuesday. On the Mound for New York will be David Peterson, who hopes to impress in his performance against the Red Sox. There is a bit of history when it comes time for Peterson and Boston, as it was the Red Sox that drafted him out of High School in the 28th Round in 2014.
As for the Red Sox they will have Garrett Richards on the mound. Richards is coming off a tough outing in his last time for the team, as he gave up four runs and walked six batters in 4 2/3 innings vs Toronto.
First Pitch between the Mets and Red Sox is set for 7:10 p.m. with fans wanting to watch the action can do so on the SNY Network.
