Whenever the Wilkes-Barre Penguins and Hersey Bears meet, sparks are guaranteed to fly in addition to some great AHL action. In the two rivals latest meeting the Penguins fell to the Bears by a final of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Giant Center.
Axel Jonsson-Fjallby got Hersey on the board first, thanks to a knuckling puck that bounced into the cage for the early 1-0 lead.
The Penguins were able to tie things up thanks to Drew O’Connor, who was able to beat the Hersey keeper and finding the back of the cage.
Alex Alexeyev was able to help the Bears regain their lead with a rifle of a shot. That combined with an empty-net goal by Brian Pinho were able to help the Bears skate off to the victory on Saturday.
In the cage for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was Alex D’Orio who made 24 saves, while Zach Fucale made 31 saves in the net for the Bears.
Up net for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will be a rematch against these Hersey Bears. With face-off set for 5:00 p.m.
