New York Mets falter in 3-0 loss to Cardinals

The New York Mets (10-9) were unable to respond to the stellar pitching by the St. Louis Cardinals (8-7) and fell by a score of 3-0 in Spring Training action on Wednesday. New York recorded only four hits and struck out six times during the game.

Leading the way for the St. Louis offense was John Nogowski who ripped a homer in the Bottom of the Second Inning, while Justin Williams had a two-run single in the Bottom of the Eighth.
Francisco Lindor, Dominic Smith, Jeff McNeil, and James McCann all were able to record hits on the offensive side of the field. On the hill, Corey Oswalt had three strikeouts in the start, while Miguel Castro fanned two batters.

St. Louis had some outstanding pitching, which began with Carlos Martinez who sat down five of the six batters in the game.

It was announced by the Mets that the team has reassigned Oswalt along with catcher Bruce Maxwell and infielder Brandon Drury along with optioning Joran Yamamoto to the Syracuse Mets, who is the teams Triple-A Minor league Baseball Team.

Up next for the Mets will host the Washington Nationals at Clover Park, in Port St. Lucie, Florida. First Pitch is slated for 6:10 p.m. On the mound for the Mets will be David Peterson, who will take on Nationals starter Kyle McGowin.
