Baltimore Orioles Win Thriller over Rays, 4-3

The Baltimore Orioles regained their winning ways over a very tough team, as the O’s beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 in Spring Training Action on Tuesday.

Tampa Bay started the scoring thanks to an RBI single to center field by Joey Wendle in the Top of the First Inning. Baltimore was able to get the lead in the Bottom of the Third Inning thanks to back-to-back homers by Trey Mancini and Maikel Franco, that made the score 4-1 in favor of the home side.

The Rays responded in the Top of the Fourth inning thanks to an RBI double by Ryan Boldt, and the team scoring on a force out opportunity which cut into the O’s lead. Baltimore’s pitching were able to shut down the Rays bats from there as the team earned a thriller with things getting closer and closer to opening day for the team.

On the mound for the Orioles, Cesar Valdez was able to earn his first Spring Training victory, striking out three batters in three innings. Conner Greene also recorded three strikeouts and Travis Lakins sat down two batters.

The Orioles continue Spring Training and testing themselves against their American League foes in an away game on Wednesday. Baltimore goes on the road to JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida to take on the Boston Red Sox in a game that is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. on the hill for the O’s is Dean Kremer who is taking on Nathan Eovaldi of the Red Sox.
