The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins had a tough night against the Hersey Bears and fell by a score of 3-1 in AHL action on Saturday.
Leading the way for the Bears was Connor McMichael, who had all of the goals in the game.
The game started off on a great note for the Penguins, as a power-play goal by Zach Nastasiuk who found the back of the cage at the 6:27 of the first.
McMichael was able to record his first goal of the evening less than two minutes later. The first-round rookie was able to take advantage of a Penguins turnover for his second goal of the game 79 seconds into the second period.
In the third period Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was able to find more of an offensive rhythm, finding plenty of scoring opportunities but just unable to find the back of the cage.
With seconds left on the clock the Penguins went with the extra skater, which generated one of the best looks in the game against Nick Schilkey, but that shot just hit the post.
Making his debut for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins was Max Lagace, who made 27 saves in the game. These two teams will meet again on Wednesday, Feb.
