Adaway, Goodwin Share Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week Honors; Kolek Named Rookie

The Atlantic 10 Conference has named St. Bonaventure junior Jalen Adaway and Saint Louis senior Jordan Goodwin as A-10 Co-Players of the Week. George Mason freshman Tyler Kolek was selected as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, presented by Air Force Reserve, were announced Monday and are for games played Feb. 8-14.

Adaway averaged 21.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and shot 72.7 percent from the floor (16-of-22) in two games this week, scoring 20 or more in each game. The forward from Logansport, Ind., also shot 84.6 percent at the line (11-of-13). He scored 20 points and shot 7-for-9 (.778) from the floor, hauling in eight rebounds and had a steal in a victory over La Salle Tuesday. He then posted 23 points on 9-of-13 (.692) shooting with eight rebounds at VCU Friday.

Goodwin, a guard from Centreville, Ill., helped lead the Billikens to a pair of victories over Rhode Island and Fordham by averaging a double-double — 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. He also had 5.5 assists per game, 3.0 steals per game, and shot 50 percent from the field (10-of-20) and from 3-point range (3-of-6). Goodwin had a rare quadruple nickel versus Rhode Island finishing with 17 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and six steals. Against Fordham, he sat much of the second half , but still ended up with another double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Kolek tallied 11 points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in Mason’s win over Fordham Wednesday. The guard from Cumberland, R.I., also shot 50 percent (4-of-8) from the floor and 50 percent (3-of-6) from 3-point range.

HONOR ROLL

Ibi Watson scored 20 points on 7-of-10 (.700) shooting from the field and 5-of-7 (.714) from 3-point range in Dayton’s loss to VCU … Dayton freshman R.J. Blakney had seven points on 2-of-5 (.400) shooting the a trio of made free throws versus VCU … La Salle’s Sherif Kenney had a career-high 22 points, and three steals in a road loss at St. Bonaventure.
