The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Duquesne senior Marcus Weathers as A-10 Player of the Week. Dayton freshman Mustapha Amzil was selected as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, presented by Air Force Reserve, were announced Monday and are for games played Jan. 25-31.
Weathers posted back-to-back double-doubles in helping Duquesne to a 2-0 week. The forward from Overland Park, Kan. opened with 19 points and 12 boards at Fordham and followed that with a season-high 24 points and 12 more rebounds in the win over Saint Joseph’s. He averaged 21.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals and shot .625 (15-of-24) from the field, .444 (4-of-9) from 3-point range and was a perfect 9-of-9 from the foul line in the two games.
Amzil averaged nine points, five rebounds and three assists in two Flyer wins last week. He had 11 points while shooting .538 (5-for-7) from the field, with seven rebounds and three assists in the Rhode Island win. The forward from Helsinki, Finland, had seven points, three rebounds and three assists in a road win at Saint Louis.

Jalen Crutcher averaged 21 points and four assists in two wins for Dayton, including scoring 27 points at Saint louis and grabbing four steals versus Rhode Island … Duquesne freshman Chad Baker tallied 23 points on 7-of-11 (.636) from 3-point range in the Dukes’ win at Fordham … George Mason freshman Tyler Kolek had 17 points and four assists in a road game at St. Bonaventure … Rhode Island’s Jeremy Sheppard averaged 20.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting .636 (7-of-11) from 3-point range in a 1-1 week for the Rams … St. Bonaventure’s Osun Osunniyi had a monster game against George Mason, collecting an 18-point, 15-rebounds double-double, hitting 8-of-11 (.727) from the field … Saint Joseph’s Taylor Funk averaged 12.5 points, and 6.5 rebounds per game in two contests last week… SJU freshman Jordan Hall matched his season-high scoring output with 17 against Richmond last Tuesday … Nah’Shon “Bones” Hyland tallied 24 points in VCU’s only game last week, a win over La Salle, shooting 50 percent from the field (5-of-10) and 3-point range (3-of-6) while grabbing four assists
