Hofstra senior Tareq Coburn has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office.
It is Coburn’s first conference player of the week honor this season. He is the fourth honoree from the Pride this season as Jalen Ray won the award on December 21 and December 28 and Isaac Kante earned the award on January 4.
Coburn had a strong week for the Pride as he led the way in pushing Hofstra to a sweep of Towson and allowed the Pride to extend its win streak to three games.
Coburn averaged 19 points, six rebounds, and two blocks per contest in the sweep.
He got his week started with a near double-double of 12 points and nine rebounds in Saturday’s win over the Tigers.
On Sunday, he exploded for 26 points, including seven three-pointers, to push the Pride to the win. The seven three-pointers fell one shy of the program’s single game record and his point total was two shy of his career-high.
For the season, Coburn is averaging 15.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. He ranks second on the team in scoring and leads the squad with 40 three-pointers.
Hofstra is 9-6 overall and 5-3 in CAA play.
