St. John’s Women’s Basketball captain Qadashah Hoppie has earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time this season, it was announced today by the league office.
Hoppie averaged 21.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals against the No. 2 and 3 teams in the BIG EAST standings last week. The senior guard from Staten Island shot 50.0 percent from the floor and 60.0 percent from three-point range over both contests.
Her week was highlighted by a career-high 28-point outing at No. 19/22 DePaul on Wednesday. She shot 55.6 from the floor and converted on six of her nine attempts from deep against the nationally ranked Blue Demons. The 5-foot-9 guard also tallied seven rebounds and three assists for the Johnnies.
Hoppie wrapped up the week with a 15-point performance against Marquette on Sunday at Carnesecca Arena.
Hoppie has reached double figures in all seven games that she has played this year, including a trio of 20-point performances. With a combined 1,305 points over her Red Storm career, the unanimous All-BIG EAST Preseason selection is the active leading scorer in the conference and ranks inside the top-45 in the NCAA.
The Johnnies will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Seton Hall for a 1 p.m. matchup with the Pirates at Walsh Gymnasium.
