Hofstra all-time great Eli Pemberton will take the first step in his professional career as he was officially added to the roster of the Santa Cruz Warriors, the NBA G League affiliate of the Golden State Warriors, it was announced on Tuesday evening.
The NBA G League recently announced that 18 teams, including 17 NBA G League teams and G League Ignite, will take to the court in February at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida. The top eight teams will advance to a single-elimination playoff. The complete game and broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.
Pemberton had a spectacular career with the Pride, finishing ninth in program history with 1,982 career points and fourth with 215 three-pointers.
Pemberton, who ranks second in program history with 129 games played, notched his career-high of 35 points on his “Senior Day” against James Madison on February 29, 2020. He also tallied career-bests of 12 rebounds last against Drexel in the CAA Quarterfinals and nine assists versus Elon in 2019.
During Hofstra’s Colonial Athletic Association title-winning season in 2019-20, Pemberton was tremendous all year as he poured in 17.6 points per game and added 5.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per outing. Pemberton, who also drained 60 three-pointers, earned a slew of honors following his senior campaign including All-CAA Second Team, NABC Division I All-District Second Team, All-Met Second Team, and concluded his career by earning a spot on the CAA Championship All-Tournament Team. It marked the second straight year Pemberton was named to the All-CAA and All-Met Second Teams.
Pemberton earned his undergraduate degree in management from Hofstra.
