The New York Mets announced recently that the club has claimed left-handed pitcher Stephen Tarpley off waivers from the Miami Marlins.
Tarpley, 27, appeared in 12 games for the Marlins last season, going 2-2 with one save and a 9.00 ERA (11 earned runs/11.0 innings) with eight walks and 11 strikeouts.
The southpaw has appeared in 43 career games over three seasons with the Marlins (2020) and the New York Yankees (2018-2019). He owns a career 3-2 record with three saves and a 6.65 ERA (33 earned runs/44.2 innings) with 29 walks and 58 strikeouts. He was originally selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the third round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of Scottsdale Community College in Arizona.
