The St. John’s Women’s Basketball program has paused all team activities due to positive COVID-19 test results impacting tier one staff members.
“Unfortunately we have positive test results within the program,” said Head Coach Joe Tartamella. “I want to emphasize how committed and strong our student-athletes continue to be in handling COVID-19 protocols, including in this current situation.”
“In full appreciation, let me be clear that our entire staff of health professionals across the University and athletics department have been terrific,” said Director of Athletics Mike Cragg. “They have reacted to these positive test results with a planned response and are in ultimate care of those involved.”
Due to the pause, the BIG EAST Conference announced that the Red Storm’s scheduled game versus Xavier on Wednesday, Jan. 6 has been postponed. No determination has yet been made on how the pause may impact scheduled games beyond Jan. 6.
