A win over a ranked opponent and two outstanding individual efforts earned a pair of Hofstra players Colonial Athletic Association weekly accolades as senior Jalen Ray was named the conference’s player of the week and freshman Kvonn Cramer picked up the rookie of the week award, it was announced today.
For Ray, it marks his second consecutive player of the week award from the conference and for Cramer it is his second rookie award after previously earning the honor on December 7.
Ray continued his torrid stretch as he scored a game-high 23 points, including the 1,000th of his career, to lead Hofstra to a statement road win over #23 Richmond on Tuesday.
Ray scored 19 of his 23 points after the break as the Pride rallied from a nine-point second half deficit. He was 7-14 from the field in the game and 5-8 from three-point range, while also adding five assists in 39 minutes.
Ray has scored 80 points over the Pride’s last three contests and he leads Hofstra in scoring this season at 19.0 points per outing.
Cramer had another big day for Hofstra as the freshman came off the bench to score 12 points on 6-6 shooting from the field and added five rebounds as the Pride knocked off #23 Richmond.
Cramer played 21 minutes in the contest and punctuated the victory with two late dunks.
He is the first Pride player to be perfect from the field with at least five attempts since Isaac Kante went 7-7 at Northeastern on January 9, 2020.
Cramer, who has played in all seven games, is averaging 7.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game. He ranks fourth in scoring and second in rebounding and steals.
