New York City FC Earn Huge 1-0 Victory over Toronto FC

VIDEO: New York City FC Head Coach Ronny Delia along with stars Anton Tinnerholm and Maxime Chanot share these thoughts after the club’s 1-0 victory over Toronto FC in Major League Soccer action on 10/28

On the day New York City FC found out they were heading for the Major League Soccer Playoffs, the boys in blue showed why they are going to be one of the team’s to be with a 1-0 victory over Toronto FC. Anytime NYCFC and Toronto ever face each other, it is always a physical and thrilling play of soccer and that trend continued on Wednesday night.

NYCFC saw the return of Taty Castellanos and Maxime Chanot to the lineup, and the two stars made an immediate impact on the pitch. Castellanos was the first to get the great tempo of play started for his squad creating numerous chances on goal. Toronto was able to keep themselves in the match and had a great chance of their own, as in the  first half a rare shot on goal from Nick DeLeon hit the post.

Taty continued to thrill with his style of play for the rest of the match, creating opportunities in the Second Half of play as well, and was even rewarded for his effort with an assist on the eventual game-winning goal. Castellanos was able to hit a  thunderous shot towards goal which could only be parried out to Jesus Medina who did the rest, by finding the back of the cage for his fourth goal of the regular season.

Things went back and forth momentum wise, but the Boys in Blue did a tremendous job in holding off the Toronto FC attack and holding on for three very well earned points.

Next up for New York City FC they will participate in the Hudson River Derby against the New York Red Bulls in the Bronx on Sunday. The Match between NYCFC and the Red Bulls set for 7:00 p.m.
