Sky Blue FC raised $1,000 for the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) during its NWSL Fall Series opener Digital Tailgate and Watch Party. The NBJC is a leading civil rights organization based in Washington, DC focusing on empowering Black LGBTQ/SGL people and ending racism, homophobia, and LGBTQ/SGL bias and stigmas.
The Digital Tailgate was held in partnership with Washington Spirit and presented by Lyre’s Non-Alcoholic Spirits. Fans attending the Digital Tailgate and respective watch parties were encouraged to donate to the NBJC but were not required. The Digital Tailgate Zoom room was maxed out at 100 participants with many donating to the NBJC.
“It was incredible to watch Sky Blue and Spirit fans come together around the launch of the Fall Series and unite for a common positive initiative,” said Sky Blue FC General Manager Alyse LaHue. “Thank you to everyone who helped us make this contribution to encourage the fantastic work of the National Black Justice Coalition.”
ABOUT THE NATIONAL BLACK JUSTICE COALITION
The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is a civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and same gender loving (LGBTQ/SGL) people, including people living with HIV/AIDS. NBJC’s mission is to end racism, homophobia, and LGBTQ/SGL bias and stigma. As America’s leading national Black LGBTQ/SGL civil rights organization focused on federal public policy, NBJC has accepted the charge to lead Black families in strengthening the bonds and bridging the gaps between the movements for racial justice and LGBTQ/SGL equality.
