VIDEO: New York Mets Manager Luis Rojas, Seth Lugo and Andrés Giménez share these thoughts after the team’s 5-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in MLB action on 9/5.
The New York Mets (18-22) got themselves a huge victory over the Philadelphia Phillies (19-16) in Major League Baseball action on Saturday. Everything seemed to click or the Mets in the game on Saturday, and that is a trend that the franchise hopes to continue as they climb the National League East Standings.
Leading the way on the mound for New York, was Seth Lugo, who went five strong innings of work, striking out eight batters and giving up four hits. Lugo has really shined for New York since having been called up for the bullpen and has a mix of pitches that impresses Manager Luis Rojas and the rest of the staff.
As for the offense, the Mets were able to see contributions from Andrés Giménez, Michael Conforto and Robinson Cano.
New York will look to continue the positive momentum with a game against the Phillies on Sunday. Taking the mound for the Mets will be Jacob deGrom (2-1, 1.76 ERA), who is set to take on Aaron Nola (4-2, 2.45 ERA).
The game between the Mets and Phillies is set to air on the SNY Network, with first pitch scheduled for 1:10 p.m.
