The Baltimore Orioles (12-12) don’t get swept very often, but when they do there are plenty of things for the team to look to improve upon for future series. Baltimore just had an overall sloppy game in their 5-2 loss against the Toronto Blue Jays (10-11) in Major League Baseball action on Wednesday.
It was just a sloppy game overall for the Birds, who saw sloppy situational hitting, some really interesting decisions made when it came time to baserunning and overall were just not able to get that positive momentum needed to get back into the game.
Leading the way for Toronto was Randal Grichuk, who launched two monster shots during the course of the game. Lourdes Gurriel Jr recorded two singles and Cavan Biggio recorded a double. As for the Orioles they were led by Pat Valaika and Cedric Mullins, who both had hits.
The road to navigating this 60-game Major League Baseball Season is not going to get any easier for the Baltimore Orioles, who now travel to Boston for a four-game series against the Red Sox. It’ll be interesting to see what decisions Manager Brandon Hyde will make to get the ship pointed in the right direction and to get the team back to the fun-to-watch squad that fans have been able to enjoy thus far this season.
Taking the mound for the Orioles in the first game against the Red Sox will be Asher Wojciechowski (1-2, 4.34 ERA) who will take on Nathan Eovaldi (1-2, 5.93 ERA). Wojciechowski fared really well for the Birds in his last outing against the Nationals, going five innings and only giving up three runs. Eovaldi, meanwhile, is looking to rebound from a tough start against the New York Yankees.
The game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Red Sox is scheduled to start at 7:35 p.m. with the action airing on the MASN Network.
