The Baltimore Orioles (10-7) have been a fun team to watch so far in this shortened 60-game MLB Season. Manager Brandon Hyde has been pushing all the right buttons and the bats have responded in a big way as the O’s continue to hold their spot as one of the better team’s in the American League.
Baltimore was able to complete a sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies with a 5-4 victory on Wednesday and a 11-4 decision on Thursday. In the game that was played on Wednesday the Birds were able to see homers from Anthony Santander, Rio Ruiz and Chance Sisco to help lead the team.
Santander played a huge role in the team’s 11-4 victory on Thursday, a former Rule 5 Draft Pick has been a huge part to the Orioles success this season and now finds himself as one of the league leaders in RBIs, as the Outfielder currently sits with 19 which only trails New York Yankee slugger Aaron Judge’s 20 RBIs. Thus far Santander has been able to drive in a run in seven straight games and having led the O’s to their first five-game win streak in three years.
There have been some really impressive numbers for Santander who has four homers, a slugging percentage of .548 and 19 RBIs in 18 games this season, he has just been able to find the holes and rip the ball right to the place that he has wanted too and it has been not only impressive but fun to watch.
The Orioles have also had some great pitching performances as well as back-to-back quality solid starts from Wade LeBlanc and Thomas Eshelman, were able to keep the team’s bats in both games.
Now Baltimore will move on to a series in Washington D.C. where they take on the reigning World Series Champions the Washington Nationals. As the team will continue the game that the two teams were playing on August 9 but got suspended at 5:05 p.m. then will start a new series after a 45 minute break.
Scheduled to start for the two teams are Orioles Tommy Milone (1-1, 3.21 ERA) who is set to take on Stephen Strasburg (0-0, 10.38 ERA). The game will air on the MASN 2 network.
