The New England Black Wolves announced that the team has re-signed free agent Greg Downing to a one-year deal.
Per team policy, no details were released.
“Greg is one of the league’s best defenders and a quality individual,” Glenn Clark, general manager and head coach said. “We are thrilled to have Greg back to help us build a championship contending team.”
Downing is a 12-year NLL veteran and returns for his third season with the Pack. The 6’1” defender was first acquired by the Black Wolves during free agency in 2018.
During New England’s 2019-20 season, Downing competed in eight games in which he collected 47 loose balls and caused 10 turnovers; the second most on the team. He also chipped in one goal and four assists while on defense. Since his entry to the league in 2009 with the Boston Blazers, he has seen action in 180 regular season contests. In that time, the Auburn, NY native has recorded a total of 889 loose balls, has caused 193 turnovers and offensively, has 97 points on 20 goals and 77 assists.
