St. Francis College Men’s Volleyball Men’s Volleyball’s Johnny Ferraro Selected to USA Volleyball’s 2020 Beach Collegiate National Team

St. Francis College Brooklyn men’s volleyball freshman outside hitter Johnny Ferraro was selected to USA Volleyball’s 2020 Beach Collegiate National Team as announced by the organization. The Beach Collegiate National Team program is slated to take place June 15-20, in Manhattan Beach, CA. The team will train from June 15-19 and concludes action on June 20, as it participates in the CBVA Tournament.

“To be honest, I am still in shock of excitement. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to pursue my dream. I know how much work I still need to put in to get to the next level,” said Ferraro as he shared his reaction to being selected to the USA Volleyball Beach Collegiate National Team.

The USA Beach Collegiate National Team is comprised of an elite talent pool of the top men’s volleyball student-athletes from across the nation. Student-athletes with remaining collegiate eligibility for the 2020 collegiate season or recent completion of their collegiate eligibility are invited to participate. Student-athletes are selected based on the following criteria: NCAA results, USA Volleyball beach ranking, CBC results, Beach High Performance participation, and Coach nominations.

“I’m incredibly happy and proud of Johnny for being selected to the 2020 Beach Collegiate National Team. He works extremely hard to fulfill his goals, and this was a major goal of his. He will definitely do great things, and we are proud to have him represent St. Francis College on the National level,” said men’s volleyball Head Coach Niko Lambert.

Ferraro appeared in all 15 matches for the Terriers in their inaugural season and racked up 122 kills, 2.22 kills per set, 139.5 points, and 2.54 points per set. The New City, NY native, ranked second on the team in kills, kills per sets, points, and points per set. Additionally, he totaled 56 digs and 12 service aces.

The outside hitter recorded 10 or more kills in a match five times this past season and recorded a career-high 16 kills in a win over St. Joseph’s (LI) on March 1. In the win over St. Joseph’s, Ferraro also hit .325 and totaled 16 points, which were also career-highs. On January 25, he registered a career-high 11 digs in a win at Elms, and on February 16, he totaled a career-best five service aces in a win over NJCU.
