Black Wolves Acquire Tanner Thomson

The New England Black Wolves announced today that the team has acquired Tanner Thomson from the Saskatchewan Rush in exchange for Tristan Rai and a second round selection in the 2023 Entry Draft.

Per team policy, no details were released.

The Marquette University graduate, was selected in the first round (16th overall) in the 2019 NLL Draft by Saskatchewan. In his senior year, Thomson started in all 13 games he appeared in, led the Golden Eagles with 26 goals, recorded a second best 12 assists and tallied 38 points in his senior year. The Toronto, ON native concluded his career with 41-of-51 starts, 65 goals, 28 assists, 93 total points and a .573 shots on goal percentage.

“Thomson is someone we’ve known and known about for a long time,” head coach and general manager Glenn Clark said. “He is a tremendous competitor and a young talent that has the ability add to our athletic group. We’re excited to welcome him to the Pack.”

Tristan Rai was selected in the fifth round in the 2019 Entry Draft to the Black Wolves and has appeared in four games where he has collected five loose balls and caused one turnover.

“Tristan was a great fit for the organization while he was here and we want to thank him for his service and professionalism,” Clark stated. “He will continue to contribute to the league for years to come and we wish him the best in Saskatchewan.”

New England is currently first in the league with an 8-3 overall record and 4-0 record on the road. The team will face the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, Mar. 14 at the KeyBank Center at 7pm and then host the Calgary Roughnecks at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday, Mar. 15 at 3pm.
