Midfielder McCall Zerboni has agreed to a one-year contract with a one-year option with Sky Blue FC ahead of the 2020 National Women’s Soccer League season. Per team and league policies, further details were not disclosed.

“I’m excited to be starting a new journey with Sky Blue,” said Zerboni. “This club has been in the professional game since I began my career and I’m honored to now join their side. I’m a highly motivated individual who wants to make an impact and decorate the team.”

Zerboni, 33, joined Sky Blue FC after a trade with the North Carolina Courage on January 10. She played with the Courage for three seasons, winning three consecutive NWSL Shields and back-to-back NWSL championships in 2018 and 2019.

“Adding a player with McCall’s talent and track record of success is a huge positive for us,” said Head Coach Freya Coombe. “We’re looking forward to her coming in and competing every day to help make us a better a team.”

An NWSL veteran, Zerboni has played in 147 regular season games for 12,369 minutes, scored 12 goals, and notched 6 assists. In 2018, she earned NWSL Team of the Month honors four consecutive times and was a NWSL MVP finalist. She also was named to the NWSL’s Best XI in 2017 and 2018.

“McCall brings a tremendous amount of experience from her ‘winning’ NWSL career,” said General Manager Alyse LaHue. “Her leadership, personality, and grit are fantastic elements to mix into our roster as we look to progress our club this year.”

Sky Blue FC will be kicking off its inaugural season at Red Bull Arena on Sunday, April 26 at 5 pm ET as they host Megan Rapinoe and Reign FC.
