Drexel Next Up For Streaking Hofstra Men’s Basketball

The Hofstra men’s basketball team will look to continue its winning ways when it heads to Drexel on Thursday. The Pride heads to Philadelphia in the midst of a six-game win streak.

Tip-off from the Daskalakis Athletic Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Hofstra is 20-7 overall and 11-3 in Colonial Athletic Association play after a 78-64 win over UNCW on Saturday. Sophomore Isaac Kante had career-highs of 23 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Pride to the victory and was joined by senior Eli Pemberton, who also tallied 23 points.

Senior Desure Buie leads the team with 18.1 points per game, while also totaling team-highs of 151 assists and 56 steals. Pemberton ranks second in scoring with 16.3 points per outing and Kante is fourth in scoring (11.1) and first in rebounding (7.7). Pemberton moved into ninth place all-time in scoring at Hofstra on Saturday as he now has 1,823 career points, to pass David Taylor (1,818 from 1979-83).

Drexel is 13-14 overall and 6-8 in conference action after a 75-70 loss at Elon on Saturday. Camren Wynter led the Dragons with 23 points and six assists in the contest. Wynter leads Drexel in scoring (16.0 ppg), assists (141), and steals (44). James Butler ranks second with 13.0 ppg and is tops on the team with 11.7 rebounds per outing.

Hofstra is 44-46 all-time against Drexel in a series that began during the 1958-59 campaign. Hofstra won the first-ever meeting, 70-64, in the Middle Atlantic Championships. Heading into Thursday’s game, the Hofstra/Drexel series ranks as the Pride’s second-most played opponent all-time as the two schools have met 89 times. Hofstra has only faced one team more as the Pride has met Delaware 92 times. Hofstra has won six straight and 10 of the last 11 games in the series.
