The two top teams in the Colonial Athletic Association standings will battle on Thursday night when the Hofstra men’s basketball team hosts Charleston in a game that will be televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network. Hofstra is riding a four-game win streak heading into the week.
Tip-off from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m. Hofstra is currently in first place in the CAA standings at 9-3, while Charleston is in second with a 9-4 record.

Hofstra is 18-7 overall and the aforementioned 9-3 in league play after a thrilling 75-71 comeback win over Northeastern on Saturday. The Pride trailed by as many as 16 in the game before rallying for the win that pushed them into first place in the league. Senior Desure Buie and junior Jalen Ray each posted 22 points to lead the comeback.
Buie leads Hofstra with 18.7 points per game and is also tops on the team with 138 assists and 53 steals. Eli Pemberton ranks second with 15.6 points per contest, while Ray (12.3), junior Tareq Coburn (10.8), and sophomore Isaac Kante (10.6) are all also averaging in double figures. Kante is pulling down a team-best 7.3 rebounds per game.
Charleston is 15-10 overall after dropping a 72-65 contest to Elon on Saturday. The loss ended a three-game win streak for the Cougars. Grant Riller had 26 points, eight rebounds and three assists in the game, while Osinachi Smart posted 10 points and 10 rebounds. Riller leads Charleston with 21.9 points per game, while Brevin Galloway is second with 11.9 points per game. Sam Miller is averaging a team-high six rebounds per game.
Thursday is the 14th all-time meeting between Hofstra and Charleston with the Cougars leading the series, 7-6. The series began when Charleston joined the CAA in 2013-14. The Pride has won two of the last three meetings, but the Cougars won this season’s first meeting, 69-67, down in Charleston back on January 18.
