Hofstra Men’s Basketball: Buie Picks Up Third CAA Player Of The Week Award

Hofstra senior Desure Buie added another award to his incredible year as he was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, it was announced today by the conference office. This marks Buie’s third CAA honor of the season as he previously won the player of the week award on November 25 and December 31.

Buie shared the award with Grant Riller of Charleston.

It was another strong week for Buie as he continued his spectacular final season by leading the Pride to a pair of huge road wins in CAA play. Buie averaged 20 points, nine assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 64% (16-25) from the field overall and 57% (8-14) from three-point range in Hofstra two games.

He got his week started in a big way as he posted his third career double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds in an 86-63 win over Elon on Thursday. He also added a game-high four steals in the contest as he controlled every aspect of the game.

Buie followed that up with another great outing, posting a game-high 22 points, along with seven assists and three rebounds as Hofstra routed William & Mary, 83-60, in a battle of two of the top teams in the conference.

Buie, who started both games this week and averaged 38.5 minutes per game, is leading Hofstra in scoring (18.5 points per game), assists (5.6), and steals (2.2) this year.

Hofstra has won three straight games to improve to 17-7 overall and 8-3 in CAA play. The Pride also picked up its nation’s best eighth and ninth road win of the season with the victories over Elon and William & Mary.
