The Hofstra men’s basketball team will conclude its two-game southern swing on Saturday when it faces Charleston in a key Colonial Athletic Association contest.
Tip-off from TD Arena is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Hofstra will bring a 14-5 overall mark and a conference record of 5-1 into Saturday’s game. The Pride most recently captured its third straight win, a 63-61 triumph over UNCW on Thursday, as junior Tareq Coburn had 15 points and nine rebounds and sophomore Isaac Kante posted 12 points and eight rebounds. Kante added the game-winning bucket with 6.5 seconds left to propel the Pride past the Seahawks. Senior Desure Buie leads Hofstra in a trio of categories with 18.7 points per game to go along with 97 assists and 43 steals. A total of five Pride players average in double figures with senior Eli Pemberton (16.3 ppg), junior Jalen Ray (12.2 ppg), Coburn (10.6 ppg), and Kante (10.1 ppg) joining Buie. Kante is Hofstra’s top rebounder with 7.1 caroms per outing.
Charleston is 11-8 overall and 5-2 in CAA play following a 79-76 loss at home to Northeastern on Thursday. Grant Riller, who leads the Cougars in scoring at 21.8 points per game, had a triple-double in the contest with 20 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds. Brevin Galloway is also averaging in double figures for Charleston with 11.4 points per outing.
The Hofstra/Charleston series is knotted at 6-6 and Saturday’s meeting is the 13th all-time meeting between the schools. The series began when Charleston joined the CAA in 2013-14. The Pride won both meetings a season ago to end a four-game win streak for the Cougars in the series. Over the last five-plus years, Hofstra and Charleston have been two of the most successful teams in the conference as since the start of the 2014-15 campaign, Hofstra has captured 59 CAA wins and Charleston has 51 wins. Hofstra leads over the last five years with Northeastern in second with 58.
