PFL World Championship Night To Remember

Six new champions were crowned and six fighters fought their way to a million dollars as the Professional Fight League excited fans from start to finish in their world Championship event.

Electricity was in the air as celebrities and fans all gathered to celebrate what was the biggest night in the world of Mixed Martial Arts. WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley was at the Hulu Theatre to show his support, while Boxing Icon Mike Tyson gave the fighters the thrill of the century by presenting each one with their championship belts after the fight was over.

The night started with a great Fighters Showcase as Brendan Loughnane (19-3) defeated David Valente (11-5) via an unanimous decision. Both fighters showed some great striking ability. Loughnane had a beautiful spinning back kick in what was a very even fight in the beginning rounds of the bout.. Brendan continued with his low kicks and looked very aggressive, David Valente was able to get a small flurry of offensive in but Brendan was able to record a takedown later on and displayed his ground and pound attack. This amazing bout went to the judges decision and those in attendance gave it a score of 30-27 in favor of Brendan Loughnane, who will be one to watch in the PFL.

There were so many emotional moments that were seen throughout the night of fights. Some of the more memorable moments of the night from the crowd came during the Natan Schulte (20-3-1) and Loik Radzhavov (13-2-1)  bout as one could tell the people were really behind Loik. This was one of the toughest bouts on the night to score as Schulte defeated Radzhabov, which got the fans of Loik fired up in disagreement.

Some major bombs were dropped in the hard hitting bout between Ali Isaev (9-0) and Jared Rosholt (20-8) in their heavyweight bout. With the Title Victory Isaev joins an elite group in  Fedor Emelianenko and Vitaly Minakov as Russian born Mixed Martial Arts Champions

The knockout of the night came compliments of Ray Cooper III (20-8-1) who connected with a liver shot on David Michaud (18-6) in the second round of their amazing battle. In what was an emotional moment after the fight Cooper III celebrated his victory with his father Ray Cooper Jr, who is a legendary fighter in his own right. Cooper III shared his thoughts on that emotional moment in the Press Conference Video seen below.

Tons of history was made as well as Emiliano Sordi (22-8) became the first fighter from Argentina to win a major championship with a Mixed Martial Arts organization. In what was one of the more emotional moments of the night was the history making bout between Kayla Harrison (7-0) and Larissa Pacheco (13-4) both made history by competing in the First Ever Women’s Lightweight Championship.

Both Harrison and Pacheco had an amazing entrance as they entered the cage by coming down the stairs of the Hulu Theatre and greeting the fans that were in attendance. These amazing athletes lasted the full five rounds as Harrison showed her amazing judo skills throughout the bout, working in many submissions and throws in the bout. Pacheco is going to be a fighter to watch for in any organization, as she was able to put on an amazing defensive display.

Harrison was highly intelligent keeping with her fight strategy, staying aggressive and earning the million dollar prize via her 50-43, 50-45 and 50-45 decision) after the bout Kayla was awarded her belt by legend Mike Tyson, and shared an amazing moment with her Mom, who flew in to see her daughter make history in the bout.
