The Hofstra men’s basketball team will commence Colonial Athletic Association play on Saturday, December 28 when it travels to James Madison.
Tip-off from the JMU Convocation Center is slated for 4 p.m.
The Pride will face the Dukes in their CAA lid-lifter after Hofstra closed non-conference play with a 9-4 record and is riding a three-game win streak.

Senior Eli Pemberton, who was named the CAA Player of the Week on Monday, leads Hofstra with 17.1 points per game, while also averaging 5.9 rebounds as well. Senior Desure Buie has been solid all season for the Pride with averages of 16.6 points, 5.8 assists, and 2.7 steals per contest. He leads the team in assists and steals and ranks second in scoring. Juniors Jalen Ray and Tareq Coburn join them in double figures with 12.5 and 11.3 points per game, respectively. Sophomore Isaac Kante has been strong of late and is averaging 9.3 points and 6.8 caroms per game.
James Madison is 7-4 overall and will take a two-game win streak into the game. They most recently defeated Fordham, 75-69, on December 20. Matt Lewis is averaging 17.7 points per game to pace the Dukes, while Darius Banks (14.1) and Dwight Wilson (10.1) are also averaging in double figures. Wilson is averaging a double-double as he pulls down 10.3 rebounds per game, while Lewis is tops on the team with 4.9 assists per contest.
Saturday’s game marks the 34th in the series between Hofstra and James Madison with the Pride leading the series, 20-13. The teams met three times a season ago with the Pride winning in Harrisonburg and in the CAA Championship Quarterfinals, while the Dukes earned the victory in Hempstead. In total, Hofstra has won five of the last six meetings between the schools.
