Cyclones Make History in Capturing First Solo Championship

It has been a long time since the Borough of Brooklyn had seen a Championship 1955 to be exact. That was when Ebbets Field was the diamond that all attended to see a game, and fans would watch those Brooklyn Bums play. Then in 2001 the New York Mets made Brooklyn the center of the Baseball world once again by birthing the Brooklyn Cyclones into existence.

The Cyclones had themselves a magical run in 2001, but the tragic events of 9/11 took place and the New York-Penn League Crowned a Dual Champions. Since that time the Cyclones and their amazing fans have seen some amazing prospects, and the future of the Mets Organization, but not that elusive Championship. Set the stage September 10, 2019 it is a Winner-Take-All Game Three at MCU Park between Brooklyn and the Lowell Spinners and boy did it not disappoint.

It was a nail biting game and the fans of both teams were into every single pitch and inning. Brooklyn took an early 2-0 lead in the Bottom of the Second Inning, when Jake Mangum and Antoine Duplantis had RBI singles. Lowell struck back in the Top of the Third Inning as Joe Davis plated two runs on a single to the outfield.

Things did not look well for the Cyclones in the Top of the Seventh as Marino Campana sucked all of the air out of MCU Park with a Solo Shot to left field. One could tell that the crowd was wondering if this was the night that Lowell would walk away the Champions. Brooklyn though as they have all season long, kept husting, kept fighting and stayed in the game. It was in the Bottom of that frame that clutch hits by Duplantis and Yoel Romero gave the Cyclones the 4-3 lead.

As they have done all season long the Cyclones pitching was clutch once again, on this night, during the most pressure filled situation ever was no different. Nathan Jones, Matthew Allan, Mitch Ragan and Andrew Edwards will forever go down  in the history books for their performance against the Spinners on this night. Allan who was a Third-Round pick for the Mets, tossed three scoreless innings, while Ragan got the victory in relief and Edwards earning the save.

Fans of the team are encouraged to check out SNY and or Citi Field the New York Mets game happening tonight against the Arizona Diamondbacks as the team is being honored by the Big League Club for their Championship victory.
