The Brooklyn Cyclones (39-30) dropped a 3-2 Extra Inning Heartbreaker to the Vermont Lake Monsters (31-39) at MCU Park in New York-Penn League Action on 8/27. In that game the Cyclones saw clutch hits from Wilmer Reyes in the Bottom of the Sixth Inning and another huge hit from Gavin Garay in the Bottom of the Ninth Inning.
It was such a tight game and the Cyclones played hard fans are encouraged to hear what Manager Edgardo Alfonzo had to say about the tough loss by clicking on the video seen below:
Brooklyn is currently in Aberdeen for a huge three game series against the Iron Birds, the Baby Bums won the first game of the series by a final of 9-8 at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium, and are currently into a tie for first place in the McNamara Division of the New York-Penn League. The Cyclones saw clutch hitting from Jake Mangum, who had a Two-RBI single. Brooklyn was also lead by Garay had a 3-for-5 day at the dish with two RBIs, Luke Ritter laced a double and Randy Adon had a 2-for-3 day with a double and an RBI.
The Cyclones have been playing well as they make a push to the playoffs and also against the IronBirds winning five of nine games against Aberdeen and going 4-0 this season at Ripken Stadium With the victory on 8/28 against the Iron Birds , the Cyclones have reached the 40-win plateau for the third time in seven seasons. Gavin Garay has been swinging a great bat lately collecting his second concecutive three-hit performance of the season.
Brooklyn continues the series against Aberdeen tonight as RHP Nathan Jones (0-1, 2.77 ERA) will take the mound for the Cyclones to take on RHP Dan Hammer (0-2, 1.20) for the IronBirds. As long as the Cyclones keep playing well they will have a chance for the New York-Penn League Playoffs.
The 2019 New York-Penn League Playoffs start on Wednesday September 4th, all tickets will be labeled Game A, B, C, or D with no date specified because of the uncertainty of where the Cyclones will finish in the standings. Game A will be the first home Cyclones Playoff Game, Game B will be the second game, etc. The time of the game will be determined by the day of the week: Monday – Friday (6:30 PM), Saturday & Sunday (4:00 PM).
Tickets for any unplayed games purchased over the phone or online will be refunded automaticlly. Service charges will not be refunded. Tickets purchased in person at the MCU Park Box Office will need to be returned to the MCU Park Box Office no later than Friday, October 11th.
