This team would have made any Mets organizational team proud with their bats tonight as the team had a season-high-tying 12 runs in the 12-3 victory over the Vermont Lake Monsters (30-38) in New York-Penn League action at MCU Park.
Brooklyn now holds a 10-1 in their last 11 home games and lead the league with a 21-13 mark in front of a friendly crowd . Pitcher Christian Tripp, who joined the Cyclones from the Kingsport Mets had a fine showing on the Mound as the righty tossed two scoreless innings to end the game. Tripp began the year with the Columbia Fireflies, where he went 0-0 with a 15.00 ERA in six games, but has not pitched since July 2nd due to injury. Tripp was selected to the 13th round of the 2018 MLB Draft and went 2-0 with a 4.05 ERA in 15 games with the K-Mets last season.
The New York -Penn League has always been one that has been tough. This season is a special one as there are so many teams in contention for the Wild Card Spot as the season is coming to an end, as multiple teams vying for that coveted spot in the playoffs.
Brooklyn will look to continue their momentum of winning at home, while staying in contention in the Wild Card Chase with Game Two against Vermont on Monday. The probable pitchers for the Cyclones will be Garrison Bryant (4-1, 2.39 ERA) vs Michael Murray (3-0, 2.41 ERA).
