New York Liberty Rally Back From Late Deficit, Fall Short To Lynx, 92-83

The New York Liberty rallied back from a 14-point deficit, but it wasn’t enough to hold off the Minnesota Lynx, who beat the team 92-83 on Saturday night in Minneapolis.

 

For the second time this season, Kia Nurse scored double figures (24) against the Lynx, shooting 45.4% (5-11) from the three-point line. She also added three steals on the night.

 

In the first half, the Liberty outscored the Lynx 43-42 on 44.7% shooting from the field and 45.5% shooting from three.

 

In the first half, the Minnesota bench outscored New York’s bench, 13-2. Minnesota struggled at the free throw line, shooting only 54.5% in the first half. Both teams struggled to take care of the ball in the first half. New York had 8 turnovers, while Minnesota had 9.

 

Minnesota came out of the locker room hot to begin the third quarter outscoring the Liberty 28-14, shooting 50% from the field and outrebounding New York 19-9.

 

New York opened the fourth quarter on a 6-2 run, with Tanisha Wright scoring 4 points in the first two minutes.

 

Despite outscoring the Lynx in the fourth quarter 26-22, New York came up short in the contest.

The Liberty head home to New York on Sunday. The team’s next matchup is the annual Pride Game on Friday, June 28 against the Dallas Wings at the Westchester County Center.
