Hofstra (19-4, 9-1 CAA) saw its 16-game win streak come to an end on Saturday when it dropped a 75-61 road decision to Northeastern. Senior Desure Buie posted a career-best 22 points in the game, while graduate student Jacquil Taylor had his second double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds in his homecoming to Massachusetts.

Senior Justin Wright-Foreman is first on the Pride in scoring with 25.5 points per game, while junior Eli Pemberton (15.5) and Buie (10.2) are also averaging in double figures. Buie leads Hofstra with 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game, while Taylor has been a strong addition this season with averages of 7.3 points and a team-high 7.8 rebounds per contest. Wright-Foreman has scored in double figures in 76 consecutive games, tying the CAA record established by David Robinson of Navy from 1985-87.

Elon (8-16, 4-7 CAA) is coming off a 67-63 loss to Drexel on February 2. Sheldon Eberhardt led the Phoenix with 13 points, while Tyler Seibring had 11 points and Steven Santa Ana posted nine points and nine rebounds. Seibring leads Elon with 17.3 points per game, while Santa Ana is second in scoring with 15.4 per contest. Santa Ana is tops on the team in rebounds with 6.6 per game and Eberhart has dished out a team-high 3.5 assists per game.

Hofstra is 7-3 all-time against Elon and won this year’s earlier match-up by the score of 74-71 as the Pride rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit. The teams split the season meetings a year ago with each winning on the opponent’s home court. Hofstra has won seven of the last 10 meetings in the series. Nine of the 10 meetings have occured since Elon joined the CAA in 2014-15 with the lone non-conference meeting occuring in the NIT Season Tip-Off early in the 2009-10 season.
