Mets Select LHP Daniel Zamora while placing Bobby Wahl on DL

The New York Mets announced today that the club has selected the contract of LHP Daniel Zamora from Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League and placed RHP Bobby Wahl on the 10-Day Disabled List with a right hamstring strain. Zamora will wear #73 and will be active for the game at Philadelphia. His first appearance will be his major league debut. To make room on the 40-man roster for Zamora, the Mets transferred Phillip Evans to the 60-Day Disabled List.

Zamora, 25, was 1-1 with two saves and a 3.48 ERA (20 earned runs/51.2 innings) in 40 games for Binghamton this year. He was named to the mid-season Eastern League All-Star team. Zamora has racked up 69 strikeouts and issued only 16 walks. He is holding lefthanders to a .244 (21-86) mark and righthanders are batting .157 (16-102) against him.

He was acquired from the Pirates along with cash considerations on January 31 earlier this year in exchange for LHP Josh Smoker. Zamora posted a 1.86 ERA (11 earned runs/53.1 innings) with 61 strikeouts in 37 games with Bradenton (A) of the Florida State League last year. He also hurled 3.0 scoreless innings in two contests with Altoona (AA) of the Eastern League in 2017. Zamora combined to go 2-4 with nine saves, allowed only two home runs and issued 19 walks. He was named to the mid-season Florida State League All-State team last season.

Overall, the 6-3, 195-pounder has gone 7-7 with 14 saves and a 2.80 ERA (52 earned runs/167.1 innings) in 114 career minor league games. He has 202 strikeouts during that span.

Wahl is 0-1 with a 10.13 ERA (six earned runs/5.1 innings) in seven games with New York.
