The Brooklyn Cyclones took two games of a three game set against New York-Penn League Rivals the Staten Island Yankees to start off the 2018 Season on a strong note. All of the players got to see time on the field for the Cyclones, including the pitchers and that will be a huge bonus to the team as the season goes along.

The finale was a 4-2 victory over the Baby Bombers at Richmond County Bank Ballpark, in what was a beautiful day for baseball. It was also Father’s Day, which was celebrated afterward with an amazing on the field catching experience with those who attended the game.

Brian Sharp had three hits in the finale, including a homer to lead the Cyclones to the victory. Jose Brizuelo had three hits, David Thompson had two hits and an RIBI and Jose Medina had two hits and a run.

Staten Island saw contributions from Andres Chaparro, who had two hits, as well as Frederick Cuevas. Junior Soto has recorded a hit so far in the young season for the Baby Bombers.

The Cyclones will return to MCU Park for a three game series against the Hudson Valley Renegades that starts on Monday, June 18 at 7:00 p.m.

Staten Island will take to the road for a three game stretch against the Lowell Spinners, before returning to Richmond County Bank Ballpark on Thursday to host the Aberdeen IronBirds, with the first pitch for that series slated at 7:00 p.m.
