In the game versus Atlanta

The Boys in Blue had a thrilling 2-2 draw against Atlanta United, thanks to goals by David Villa and Alex Ring. For Villa his goal in the 39th Minute was the 399th of his carer. As for Ring, he connected on a laser of a shot in the 72nd minute for his first New York City FC  goal.

Last time Against Portland

The Portland Timbers came into Yankee Stadium and earned a 1-0 victory in the match against NYCFC in 2017. Scoring the lone goal was Diego Valeri, who was able to tie an MLS record with a goal in seven straight contest. The victory at the time valued the Timbers to the top of the Western Conference. It was a tough loss for the Boys in Blue, as they had had 10 straight home games without a loss.

Portland has split a pair of matches heading into the match on Sunday, having last earned a home win against Minnesota United FC.  The Timbers had goals from Valeri along with Alvas Powell and Fanendo Adi.

New York City FC currently sits in First Place in the East, while Portland ranks 11th in the very tough Western Conference.
