The St. John’s Women’s Basketball Team (8-3) earned a 74-63 thrilling victory over James Madison (5-4) in NCAA Division 1 action at Carnesecca Arena.
Entering into the Fourth Quarter the Red Storm trailed by six points, showing heart, fight and grit the team outscored James Madison, 27-9, over the final 10 minutes of the game to earn a sixth-straight victory.
Leading the way on the offensive side for St. John’s was Jade Walker, who was one of our players in double-figure scoring. Walker finished the game with 16 points, shooting 7-of-11 from the.
Imani Littleon matched a career-high with 14 points and set a new career-best with 13 boards. Littleton posted the first St. John’s double-double since Danaejah Grant had 22 points and 10 rebounds against DePaul in the semifinals of last year’s BIG EAST Championship.
Alisha Kebbe chipped in 12 points and three rebounds while dishing out a season-high four assists. Akina Wellere added 12 points and was 6-for-7 from the charity stripe.
St. John’s returns to action next Friday, Dec. 30, when they head to South Orange, N.J., to square off against Seton Hall in the Johnnies’ BIG EAST opener. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip and will be broadcast live on FS2.
