The St. John’s Men’s Basketball team and NJIT battled it out in Division 1 Basketball action at Carnesecca Arena on 12/20.

On this day the Highlanders (7-5) earned a 83-75 decision over the Red Storm (8-5), as NJIT had four players scored in double figures. Leading all scorers was Damon Lynn who had 32 points.

As for St. John’s they had five players that reached double figure scoring, led by Federico Mussini who recorded 20 points.

Ron Mvouika tallied 12 points, while Amar Alibegovic had 11 points. Christian Jones and Malik Ellison rounded out the scoring with 10 points each.

The Red Storm had a great day on the boards holding a 45-36 advantage in the game, but struggled at the charity stripe going  18-of-34 (52.9 percent) in the contest.

St. John’s returns to action on Dec. 22 with a 9 p.m. game against RV/25 South Carolina as part of the Hall of Fame Shootout at Mohegan Sun Arena. They will next be in action at Carnesecca Arena on Dec. 31 with a 2 p.m. game against Creighton University.
