The Brooklyn Cyclones (22-17) are on a bit of a roll as with the 3-1 victory over the Batavia Muckdogs (13-25) the team is now on a three-game winning streak.
Once again the Cyclones Pitching staff is outstanding as starter Gaby Almonte (5-2) had his opportunity to show what he can do on the hill. Almonte pitched six strong innings, striking out three batters only giving up one run during the course of the game.
The offense continues to come through when needed, on this night Manuel Hilario connected on a two-run single into right field, that gave the Cyclones a 2-1 lead.
This is the second good offensive outing to go along with fine hitting for Hilario, who also got a home run in the rubber match against Hudson Valley on 7/30.
Also recording hits in the game were Brandon Brosher (2) and Tucker Tharp. Hengelbert Rojas drove in a run via a ground out in the Bottom of the Sixth that gave the Cyclones a 3-1 lead.
Brooklyn’s pen was once again brilliant as the trio of P.J. Conlon, Corey Taylor and Alex Palsha all were able to keep Batavia off the scoreboard. For Palsha his scoreless Top of the Ninth Inning gave him the league leading Ninth Save of the Season.
The Cyclones next home game is tomorrow, Saturday August 1st with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 PM. RHP Andrew Church (1-1, 3.12) takes the mound for Brooklyn. First Pitch betwen the Cyclones and Muckdogs is set for 6:00 p.m.
