New York City FC midfielder Tommy McNamara has been nominated for Major League Soccer Goal of the Week for Week 14.

McNamara was also named to the MLS Team of the Week for his efforts.

The midfielder scored a 25-yard wonder strike in the 53rd minute of the Club’s 2-1 comeback victory over the Philadelphia Union on Saturday at PPL Park in Chester, Pa.

McNamara, who was making his first start of the season, gained possession near midfield, passed the ball to Kwadwo Poku and continued his run forward. McNamara received the ball, took a few touches into space and fired his shot into the top corner, tying the game at 1-1.

It was McNamara’s first goal since scoring on his MLS debut with Chivas on March 9, 2014.

Also nominated for MLS Goal of the Week (Week 14) are: Fanendo Adi (Portland), Sebastian Giovinco (Toronto), Kennedy Igboananike (Chicago) and Cyle Larin (Orlando City).

New York City FC will be in action on June 13 at Yankee Stadium to take on the Montreal Impact for a 7:00 pm match.
