This isn’t the first time that New York City FC and the Houston Dynamo have played each other, but this time the result matters especially when NYCFC is looking to right the ship in this 2015 Major League Soccer Season.
Having played each other as a part of the Carolina Challenge Cup in preseason play, these two teams will battle it out once again with points on the line.
Houston was able to earn a 2-1 victory in that preseason match, but has had an up-and-down season since.
Forward Giles Barnes leads the Dynamo with six goals, while Will Bruin has found the back of the net four times. Brad Davis is the playmaker for Houston, having a team-high four assist. Davis had a goal and assist when these two teams met in the preseason.
New York City FC comes into the match after a tough 2-0 defeat at Real Salt Lake on May 23. For NYCFC they could really use a positive results to get the momentum going for this season, meanwhile a result for the Houston Dynamo may potentially propel them in the Western Conference standings.
In the match versus Real Salt Lake NYCFC had some wonderful opportunities from Captain David Villa, Mix Diskerud and Patrick Mullins.
Making his debut for New York City FC was Midfielder/Defender Connor Brandt in the 81st Minute. Brant was the the 23rd overall pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft.
It will be a battle for sure so fans are encouraged to to come out to Yankee Stadium to support the club. Anyone unable to attend in person can watch the action on the YES Network, with Kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
