New York Cosmos v San Antonio Scorpions Preview

The New York Cosmos (4-3-0) are getting ready to host the San Antonio Scorpions (2-1-3) in North American Soccer League Action on May 23.

Fans are encouraged to get to Shuart Stadium on the campus of Hofstra University early as the team is beginning the ‘Cosmos Legends’ Bobblehead series with a figure of Pelé that match and they are only available while supplies last.

New York is coming back to Shuart Stadium after a thrilling 2-2 draw against the Carolina RailHawks, in which the club netted two late goals thanks to an own goal from Carolina and one that was netted in the 97 minute by Andrés Flores.

The Cosmos have been able to find a different offensive hero in each of the matches thus far.

San Antonio has always been a tough battle for New York and they are looking to come into this match not only very hungry, but also looking to repeat the past success they have had against New York.

In 2014 the Cosmos not only weren’t able to defeat the Scorpions in regular season, but also had a 2-1 loss in the NASL Semi-Final Round.

That season San Antonio won the NASL Soccer Bowl Championship, so you know that New York is looking forward to seeing what they can do with the additions of Raúl, Leo Fernandes, Lucky Mkosana, and former Scorpion player Wálter Restrepo.

Having a great season thus far for the team is Keeper Jimmy Maurer, who in seven games played made 18 saves, while holding a 0.71 GAA.
