On what was a beautiful night at MCU Park located in Coney Island, Brooklyn the New York Cosmos made a successful debut in North American Soccer League Action on Saturday evening.

The Cosmos were not only a hit drawing a crowd of 5,279 enthusiastic supporters the team also played well earning a 1-0 victory over the Ottawa Fury FC.

Lucky Mkosana netted the lone goal at the 14 minute mark to keep the Cosmos in first-place. As for Ottawa the team fell to a 1-1-3 mark, but will be one to watch throughout the NASL season as they played tough all match long.

Mkosana who was set-up beautifully by Leo Fernandes, was named Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match for his great play throughout the night.

The Cosmos had lots of opportunity at the Ottawa Fury FC, including what looked to be a beauty by both Raul to  Walter Restrepo, but sadly the play was called offsides-much to the dismay of the fans in attendance.

Having another great night in the cage was North American Soccer League Player of the Month of April Jimmy Maurer, who adds another shutout to an already impressive NASL Spring Season resume.

Overall though the club enjoyed the experience in Brooklyn, as not only Head Coach Giovanni Savarese, but also some of the players as well.

One can say that if the Cosmos needed a temporary place to play they would not hesitate to use MCU Park again, and with the great crowd in attendance the fans would love to see the team come back and have another match in Brooklyn.

For now though the Cosmos are just focusing on winning matches and continuing this great style of play they have been having. The club will return back to Shuart Stadium on the Campus of Hofstra University on May 10, as they take on FC Edmonton in a 2:00 pm match.
