New York City FC (1-2-3) and the Portland Timbers (1-2-3) are two teams looking to move up in the Standings early in this Major League Soccer Season.
Now these two teams will battle at Yankee Stadium on Sunday, April 19 (today) with the first kick set for 7:00 p.m.
On Thursday NYCFC drew a tough 1-1 result against the Philadelphia Union, while the Timbers are coming off a 2-0 loss to Orlando City SC on April 12.
The good news for fans of the team from the Bronx, is that the team played much better in front of their fans at Yankee Stadium in the home-and-home tilt against the Philadelphia Union.
For the Portland Timbers, this match is an important one as the team looks to avoid losing to another expansion team this season.
Players to watch for in the match are Kwadwo Poku and Khiry Shelton, while Portland will look to Darlington Nagbe to spark the offense.
New York City FC have a few players banged-up as David Villa and defender Jason Hernandez at halftime of Thursday’s match against Philadelphia due to injury. Hernandez (calf strain) is out of Sunday’s match against Portland, while Villa (hamstring strain) is questionable.
Defenders Josh Williams and Shay Facey are also questionable with adductor strains.
Portland also has a few injuries as as Will Johnson (leg), Diego Valeri (knee), Ben Zemanski (knee) and Michael Nanchoff (hernia) are all still out. Jack Jewsbury could return to the starting lineup, as could Dairon Asprilla.
