St John’s Women’s Basketball Guard Aliyyah Handford has been named a Second Team All-Star by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Handford was one of just three players from the BIG EAST to garner this recognition, joining Daisha Simmons and Ka-Deidre Simmons of Seton Hall.

Handford receives the honor follow a standout season for the Red Storm, as the Newark, N.J., native led the BIG EAST in scoring at 19.3 points per game.  She also ranked in the top 10 in the conference in rebounding, pulling down 6.5 boards per contest and tallying six double-digit rebounding performances on the season.

For her efforts, Handford was tabbed as a unanimous pick to the All-BIG EAST First Team for the second-straight year.

Putting up 655 points, Handford recorded the second-best single-season scoring total in program history.

The Malcolm X. Shabazz High School product led the Red Storm to the Round of 16 in this season’s WNIT, marking the program’s eighth-straight postseason appearance and the fourth time that the Red Storm won multiple postseason games.
