New York Liberty Senior Vice President of Business and Basketball Operations Kristin Bernert announced on Monday that the team has re-signed forward Swin Cash. Per team policy, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Throughout her career, Swin has been known for her leadership on the court and in the community, and by no coincidence, championships have followed,” said Bernert.  “We’re happy to have her back and know she’s going to make great contributions to our team this season.”

“Swin understands the game and how it should be played, and she can play multiple positions,” said Liberty Head Coach Bill Laimbeer. “Even more than that, she has a will to win and a commitment to excellence that is unmatched.”

Cash was acquired by the Liberty on July 9, 2014, in a trade with the Atlanta Dream and in 15 games with New York she averaged 4.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. The 6-1 guard is a three-time WNBA Champion (2003, 2006, 2010), a four-time All-Star (2003, 2005, 2009, 2011), and was the second overall pick of the Detroit Shock in 2002.

A 13-year WNBA veteran, Cash has appeared in 414 career games, averaging 11.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. In 49 WNBA playoff games, she has posted 10.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per contest.

Cash was also a two-time All-WNBA selection (2003, 2004) and All-Defensive Team honoree in 2011. She played for four other teams during her illustrious career — the Shock, Seattle Storm, Chicago Sky and Atlanta Dream.

Along with her return to the Liberty, Cash’s foundation – Cash for Kids — will celebrate its 10th Anniversary this year. Cash for Kids is committed to providing the essential tools – on and off the court – for kids to “get in the game.” Cash for Kids will host a group of children at an upcoming Liberty game at Madison Square Garden this season in conjunction with the Garden of Dreams Foundation.

The New York Liberty will tip off the 2015 regular season on Fri., June 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Madison Square Garden, hosting the Atlanta Dream. Season ticket packages are available by calling 212-465-6073 or by visiting NYLiberty.com.
