Manhattan senior Emmy Andujar (Bronx, N.Y. / Rice) was named First Team All-MAAC while junior Ashton Pankey (Bronx, N.Y. / Maryland) earned Third Team accolades as selected by the league’s 11 coaches.
With his First Team selection, Andujar is now one of six players eligible to be named the 2014-2015 MAAC Player of the Year, which will be announced on Friday, March 6 at 5 p.m. at the Postseason Awards Show. The event will be held at Swyer Theater and will be streamed live via ESPN3.
Andujar, a 6-6 senior forward, had an outstanding season while establishing himself as one of the best all-around players in all of college basketball. He leads the team and is among the MAAC leaders in scoring (16.5 ppg-5th), rebounding (7.5 rpg-5th), assists (3.5 apg-5th) and steals (2.1-2nd) while adding 10 20-point performances and six double-doubles.
Additionally, over the last 16 games he is averaging 19.0 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 3.8 apg and 2.6 spg while shooting 50.7 percent from the floor and 73.2 percent from the line.
The Bronx product also ranks among the Jasper career record holders in scoring (1,284-16th), rebounding (735-10th), assists (353-7th) and steals (162-3rd).
Pankey, a 6-10 junior forward, is among the league-leaders in scoring (13.3 ppg-13th), rebounding (6.5 rpg-8th), field goal percentage (.543-3rd) and blocks (1.4 bpg-4th).
The Maryland transfer has also notched double-figugres in each of his last 13 games while averaging 16.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg and 1.8 bpg.
Andujar and Pankey and the rest of Manhattan will be back in action on Saturday, March 7 at the MAAC Tournament in Albany, N.Y.
