Coming off a crucial conference victory over Villanova on Friday night, the St. John’s senior class will make its final appearance at Carnesecca Arena on Sunday afternoon, playing host to Georgetown on Senior Day at 2 p.m.

RED STORM QUICK HITS

  • The Red Storm will honor the careers of its most veteran players on Sunday afternoon.  Amber Thompson, the only four-year player among the honorees, possesses a career record of 45-15 in Carnesecca Arena and is the last remaining member of the Red Storm team that made an historic run to the Sweet 16 in the spring of 2012.  On Friday evening, the Newark, N.J., native grabbed eight boards to become the first player in St. John’s history to record 1,000 rebounds for her career.
  • After setting season-lows with just three field goals on nine shot attempts last Sunday at DePaul, Aliyyah Handford lit up the scoresheet against the Wildcats on Friday, sinking 11 of her 16 tries from the floor en route to a 25-point, eight-rebound performance.  Her 25 points against Villanova pushed Handford above 500 for the season, making her just the fourth player in St. John’s history with multiple 500-point seasons in a career.  With 1,380 points for her career, the Newark, N.J., native is just 19 points shy of tying Sue Bretthauer for ninth on the St. John’s all-time scoring list.
  • With 10 points on four-of-seven shooting against Villanova, sophomore point guard Aaliyah Lewis reached double figures for the second time in her last three outings.  On the season, Lewis is averaging 5.8 points and a team-best 4.2 assists per game in addition to possessing the conference’s fourth-best assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.2.
  • Sophomore forward Jade Walker converted on two critical free throws on Friday night, helping the Red Storm seal its victory over Villanova.  At 8.3 points per game, Walker is the Red Storm’s third-leading scorer this season, having reached double figures on 13 occasions, including each of the team’s last two games.

SCOUTING GEORGETOWN

  • The Hoyas enter Sunday’s contest with a conference record of 2-13 and an overall mark of 4-23.  On Friday at Seton Hall, the Hoyas emerged on the losing end of a 95-68 decision against Seton Hall.

  • Georgetown is led by one of the conference’s most exciting freshmen, Dorothy Adomako.  The Midlothian, Va., native averages a team-best 13.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.

  • As a team, the Hoyas have struggled with turnovers, surrendering nearly 19 possessions per game.
