Fordham MBB Continue Atlantic 10 Play by Hosting Dayton

The Fordham University Rams continue their 2014-2015 season, the 112th season of varsity basketball at Rose Hill, and continue their Atlantic 10 season by hosting the University of Dayton Flyers in the historic Rose Hill Gym on Saturday, January 10, at 7:00 p.m.

The game will be televised live on the Atlantic 10 Network (SNY in the New York area) with Ed Cohen (p-b-p) and John Griffin (color) announcing. The game will also be broadcast on WFUV (90.7 FM) and www.wfuvsports.org and can be followed live via livestats. Follow the links above.

Fordham enters the game with a 5-8 overall record, 0-2 in the Atlantic 10, following a 68-65 conference loss at Rhode Island on Wednesday. Dayton enters the game with a 12-2 overall record, 2-0 in the A-10, after a 78-61 league win at St. Bonaventure on Thursday.

Saturday night’s contest will be the 30th meeting between Fordham and Dayton on the hardwood with the Flyers leading the all-time series, which started in 1952-53, 24-5. Dayton has won the past eight match-ups, including an 80-68 win in the Rose Hill Gym last January 15 as Devin Oliver scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Flyers. The last Ram win occurred on January 4, 2005 as Fordham upended the Flyers, 66-56, in the Rose Hill Gym as Jermaine Anderson netted 18 points and Marcus Stout added 12.

Notes
* Fordham freshmen Eric Paschall and Chris Sengfelder are the only set of freshman teammates to be averaging more than 10.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg. Paschall is ninth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring with a 16.0 ppg average while also pulling down 6.2 rpg, while Sengfelder is averaging 11.6 ppg and 6.8 rpg. The only other freshman combo that was averaging 10.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg were Purdue’s Isaac Hass and Vince Edwards but Hayes is now averaging 10.4 ppg and 4.6 rpg while Edwards is averaging 10.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg.

* Over the past four games, the Fordham Rams have recorded 58 assists, dishing out a season-high 22 in the win over Howard and 20 more in the victory over South Carolina State. The Rams now have three 20-assists games this year (Fordham had 22 in the opener with NYIT) and are averaging 13.2 assists/game, seventh best in the Atlantic 10.

* Through games of January 7, the Fordham Rams have the Atlantic 10’s ninth leading scorer, and top freshman scorer, in freshman guard Eric Paschall (16.0 ppg) and the second top steals man in Mandell Thomas (2.3/game). The Rams also have the third leading rebounder in junior forward Ryan Rhoomes (9.6 rpg) while Antwoine Anderson is fourth in assists/game (3.9) and Rhoomes is sixth in the conference in blocked shots, averaging 1.8/game.
